Dear Travelers..!! Northern side of Lombok is one of the most famous tourism destinations in Indonesia. It’s the home of The Gili Islands (Gili Trawangan, Air and Meno), Pusuk Pass Monkey Forest, Lombok Traditional Village in Senaru, Bayan and also the mascot of Lombok, Mount Rinjani.
Renting a car or motor cycle is an option for the more adventurous traveler and there are many places to do so. The Airport, Senggigi Beach, Mangsit and Mataram all have car rental services available. The rate start from IDR 300.000 (USD 29) for a minivan a day and about IDR 80.000 (USD 7) for a motor cycle. Just call the nearest tourist information center to get the best rate.
Driving in Lombok requires a valid International Driving Permit (IDP), plus your own home country of residence Driving Licence. Traveling from Lombok International Airport (BIL) takes 1 hour 35 minutes for 70 km to reach Bangsal harbor in Pemenang.
If you start from Lombok International Airport (BIL) in Praya, Central Lombok just turn to the right from at the main gate heading to Jalan Bypass BIL for approximately 22 km until you see the Monument of Giri Menang, Gerung, West Lombok in the roundabout.
Turn right onto TGH Lopan until you reach the gate of Mataram in Dasan Cermen. At the traffic light there two options, turn left if you want trough the sea side in Ampenan and Senggigi or just keep straight to for the city view from Mataram, Rembiga to Gunung Sari.
It’s a couple of kilometer to Gunung Sari, the location of a vibrant, daily morning market selling every variety of produce and goods Lombok offers. Gunung Sari also is a home of bamboo handicraft.
From here the roads climbs up through the forest to the Pusuk Pass and hordes of native monkeys. Then it’s 10 km down to the plains and the village of Pemenang. Welcome to the North Lombok Region. At Pemenang intersection just turn left if you wanna go to Medana, Tanjung, Senaru, Rinjani and East Lombok. Turn right to Pandanan, Malaka and Senggigi or keep straight to the gate of Bangsal, if you wanna reach The Gillis.(ags)
